Substitute 2 meals with Slimfast drinks and bars and eat one sensible meal?

NO ... Just  NO!!   NO to Slimfast, NO to Kellogg's , NO to Shakeology (and all of the knock offs) !! JUST NO to anything which requires you to substitute "regular" foods for something  from a box or in a wrapper as a means to losing weight

Why?

  1. Read the ingredients list. (With the exception of Shakeology which is actually healthy aside from being a glorified liquid diet with too few calories) their products are loaded with sugar, chemicals and very little protein to properly meet your body's muscle preservation needs. This means some of the "weight" you lose will be muscle which will slow down your metabolism and cause you tool look more saggy naked. You can read my blog post about why adequate protein is essential for fat loss and toning.
  2. Unless you gorge at dinner,  you will be well below the 12-1500 calorie minimum needed to keep your body functioning properly and preserve lean body mass (which keeps your metabolism high and keeps things firm and tight)
  3. In one "sensible" meal it is pretty close to impossible to get the necessary fruits (3-5) and veggies (4-7)  needed daily for adequate vitamins, fiber and nutrients to keep your body well nourished.
  4. Will you lose weight? Yes. You are cutting calories by restricting yourself to a few bars or bowls of cereal and some shakes which were produced in a factory.
  5. Will it be a good bit of muscle along with the fat? Yes
  6. Will you be hungry and miserable? Probably so unless your metabolism slows down commensurate with the amount of calories you are consuming.
  7. Will you gain your weight back and then some when you go "off"? Yes
  8. Will you gain back the muscle? No
