Motivation Monday - 30 days

30 Days

I was recently giving an interview to a local paper about my heading into my 8th race season and the topic got around to Custom Bodies and our 18 year anniversary and how we grew from me training a few old Jenny Craig clients to 18 years, over 1500 clients and changing the lives of thousands of people both locally and online. Both of which got me to thinking.....

If you have ever planned a big move, event or signed up for a big race, you  know it can be very overwhelming when you start thinking about all of the things that have to be done.

If you were to try to do it all at one time, it would seem so daunting as to completely crush  your spirit.

After the initial excitement faded, the thought of running 26.2 miles seemed completely overwhelming and I was almost crushed before I even began.  When I stopped and thought about it,  I would be running from my house (at the time), all the way to Clearwater.

Instead of completely freaking out and  letting it overwhelm me, I decided to make progress towards my goal every day for 30 days.

So , I got training calendar, only printed out the first 30 days and  every day I  focused only on that day's training or activity. It could have been something as simple as foam rolling or a visit to the chiropractor but, regardless of how small, it got done.

If I just looked at the end goal, it would have been completely overwhelming and I most likely would have put off starting until I finally decided it was too much and given up.

The marathon training lasted 4 months but, if it were not for the first 30 days, I'm not sure I would have made it.

Same thing with Custom Bodies.  Had I looked at the magnitude of where we are now, I probably would never have wound up where we are now... here, with  you, making serious changes in your bodies and lives.

The idea with both was to string together 30 straight days of  small successes.

If you are that person who has put off starting because you have failed in the past or because the goal seems too daunting, I want you to do the same thing to help you reach your fitness goals.

Let's say your goal is to: "Lose 20 pounds in the next 3 months so you can fit back into your clothes and feel better naked"

Starting today and continuing for the next 30 days, you will mark every day that you did something to get closer to your goal.

It could be things like:

-- Joined a supportive fitness community for
accountability and motivation

--Brought an apple and almonds for a snack today instead of going to the vending machine

-- Cut out 1 pre packaged or drive through food

-- Pre planned food for the week

-- Got in  a walk and some pushups after dinner

-- Made the call  or scheduled the  consultation  (my personal favorite)

It is very easy to get overwhelmed when you have so far to go. Don't let that discourage you!

If you will notice, I didn't say you had to mark down if you had lost weight every day.

Anyone who knows me  has heard the phrase "Weight is a symptom of lifestyle."  If you have a healthy lifestyle, your weight and body will reflect it.

You are simply  marking  down simple things you will do for the next 30 days to create a healthy lifestyle and weight .

Don't wait, start your calendar today, and let me know how I can help along the way.
