How to determine if a food is healthy

I hope every one is closing out a phenomenal week and that you are 1 week closer to your fitness goals.

People automatically assume a food is healthy because it's in the "diet" section or because they find it at Whole foods but ... notsomuch ! With all of the hype surrounding what's "healthy" and most people equating "healthy" with "low fat",  it's easy to see why Americans are getting fatter.  I was doing a grocery store tour the other day and we pulled out some frozen foods from a national diet program.  People were surprised (and a bit appalled) at the preservatives among the ingredients.

Then you have Subway touted as the "fresh" alternative with commercials featuring Olympic athletes. If you really want to be appalled, read this

Easy rules of thumb for determining if a food is healthy...

1. number of ingredients - if there are more than 3, chances are its not
2. Can't pronounce an ingredient? Probably not healthy

I would seriously rather have someone eat a serving or 2 of lays potato chips which, while procrssed, contain potatoes, oil and salt than most of those "healthy" granola or protein bars that have things like corn syrup and preservatives.

Check out my list of ingredients that are messing up your fat loss HERE (they aren't what you think)

I look forward to helping you be the best YOU can be !!
