Monday Motivation: Never Again

Today's blog post is inspired by a woman named Kathleen Riser.
I don't know her and will never meet her but what she's accomplished is nothing short of amazing and inspiring . This retired school teacher (51 1/2 at the start) lost 250 lbs after being mocked at her local gym by (of all things) a "trainer".  You can read her inspiring story (and see her "after" pictures  HERE

It is hard for a lot of people to imagine, but I used to be overweight. In fact, my entire family is over weight. Most  people think I have always been in great shape or that I am "lucky" to have good genetics.  The fact is that I'm 40 lbs lighter now than when I graduated high school (where I couldn't even run a 1/2 mile and got out of gym  class by being a score keeper for our base ball team)

I think about how I felt back then and how other people treated me (I was always the "cute" one who was stuck in the friend zone and avoided certain events and clothes like the plague) and I think:

Never again.

If you are finally going to get to your fitness goal, you have to have that moment in your life when you decide enough is enough.

You have to decide that you are tired of being tired  all the time.

That you're tired of the way you look.

That you're just not happy with lower self esteem and avoiding clothes or activities because you are uncomfortable.

Most who lose a lot of weight have a moment that spurs them to action.

As I said, Kathleen's turning point was she overheard a trainer at her gym mocking her for her weight. Instead of letting it stopped her, she used it as fuel to drop a tremendous amount of weight.

What is your "Never again" moment? What is something you can use as motivation to lose the weight and keep it off?

Find something such as a picture, some old clothes, a memory that will motivate you or even, the goal of looking and feeling your best EVER!

Just because you have never been able to do it up until now, doesn't mean you can't.

You can do this, you just have to:
  1. DECIDE what you want and that you are no longer willing to accept where you are
  2. Take action
  3. Stay consistent
  4. Never get down on yourself
  5. Create a social support network

A clear goal, proper tools and a great support network will get you where you want to be but it's up to you to take action. Not sure what action to take?
